[rescue] video problems and bent pins on mbus module

I got it all to work, I think. The video works on the cgsix now (I had
to put it on a better monitor), and I put the mbus module in with a
severely shortened pin 1, and I have yet to have any problems with it so
I assume it's making contact in the right place.

Thanks for the help though.

Subject: Re: [rescue] video problems and bent pins on mbus module

Please describe the SBUS video card and the memory you
have in the SS/20.

I have a *strong* suspicion that the SS/20 *had* one
or two VSIMMs installed, and what you conencted to
were two "dead" connectors.

If my suspicion is true, I'd be happy to trade you a
four meg VSIMM for the framebuffer expansion card you
have.

When you open the box and look, you might see that the
SBUS framebuffer (video card) is shorter than the
other cards, connects to a special connector, and has
almost *nothing* on it.

The "built-in" video connector is only useful if you
have a VSIMM installed, that could be seen by looking
at the memory bank and seeing if you have one or two
"longer" memory sticks installed. (they will have a
little plastic cover over one chip.

For all items mentioned, please provide the part
numbers for anything you think is a VSIMM, memory
DIMM, or video card/framebuffer - they should be in
the form of 501xxxxyyyyyy... - only tell us the first
seven numbers (501 and the next four digits).

HTH,

Ken
