I don't know SAM, but you've got to realize that AIX is only unix under
all the layers of IBM-designed interface. I'm an IBM trained and
certified AIX admin, and I can tell you that the full extent of their
training course for admins is how to use smit(ty). Not that it's a bad
thing, necessarily, for day-to-day admin tasks, routine upgrades, that
sort of thing. But yeah, it definitely helps to be able to jump into a
shell and get stuff done when needed. But IBM doesn't expect you to have
to, and doesn't make provision for it.
