Sigh.  Dec Intel Xerox is what DIX stands for, and a DIX connector is a 15pin
D connector with a fancy clip rather than screw in line normal 15pin D 
connectors.  Well, that is the physical connector at least.

I think DIX might also refer to that it isn't ethernet at the connector.
