[rescue] Viper 150 reading QIC24?

Hi,

A low cost set of QIC24 cartridge tapes with SunOS 4.1.1 came my way, in
the original Sun box. I thought I would try and install this bit of
history, and acquired a 411 case with what identifies as a Viper 150
drive.

When I try to boot from the tape at the ok prompt, I get the error
message:

The file just loaded does not appear to be executable.

I'm not sure the drive have survived the years, and I'm further
not sure this particular drive can read QIC24.

After googling for some while, I'm still not sure what's wrong, and wonder
if some of the tape media cognoscenti might have some ideas?
