Ah, you're right.  I just tried it - and by and large, paintballs do not
expand when frozen.  Howver, they do go horribly out of shape for some
reason, with rather large (and not very aerodynamic) dimples.

Managed to get a few to curve right around the corner of the house - 90
degree angles!
