Bill:

We picked up a Venta Airwasher last winter and love it.
It does a great job of cleaning the air and also humidifies
in the process. Check it out at: http://www.venta-airwasher.com/

The only downside to it is the price. The going price for it
is $500, which seems a bit high for a bucket with a fan and
a big finned wheel inside it. However, most all the decent air
cleaners run about this price, and you don't have to buy filters
for it. Also, you don't really need to buy their solutions. The
venta water treatment additive seems to be dishwashing liquid,
which give the water some surface tension. The air is blown through
the bubbles in between the fins, where the dirt and such is trapped.

You wash it out about every two weeks. Cleaning is pretty easy,
you put fresh water in and a bit of Mr. Clean and let it run for
a couple of hours. Then rinse it off well and you're ready to
go again.
