All you need to interleave on the 30 are fully populated quads rather than
pairs.  Not every bank needs to have RAM.  This is unlike beasts like the
450 that will interleave across up to all 16 DIMMs and require more
planning.

The 30 was intended to be the high end desktop at the time, so I guess I
can see why.

You can get PCI FDDI cards with drivers, they are a bit pricy new though.
