Crap.....
My SS5 project may have taken a turn for the worse.
I smell smoke. Its still lingering in the air. That lovely burned
bakelite/smoking chip stink that spells doom.

I left my SS5 powered up all weekend (in the middle of a sol8 install). Thats
not unusual, its been known to run for a month at a time. This morning I was
doing my 500 email discard elligible sortage when I smelled smoke (didn't see
any though). After a quick check of the 5 machines in my office I realized it
was my SS5. I turned on the monitor and the install screen was there awaiting
my input, so I may be lucky.

I killed the power (I guess the install is hosed). I took off the cover and did
a quick powerup. The CPU fan spun (its a 170mhz with the factory fan) and both
power supply fans spun. Nothing is black, but some dram is warm. The P/S is a
pretty warm near the fans.

its possible that the office isn't a/c'ed over the weekend and that this was
residual stink from a near meltdown.

Other than recommendations/observations from other smoked SS5 users who may
know of vulnerabilities, I guess I'm just venting here.

Crap... this sucks.
