Open the puppy up and you will likely find standard sized 6 or 12 volt gell 
cells.  Remove one, and using the friendly yellow pages, go to your local 
battery monger.  They will likely have them on the shelf.  If they have to 
consult the catalogs, brand names are unimportant, pay attention to voltages, 
physical dimensions, connectors and amp-hours.

I have re-batteried a metric buttload here, all with generic batteries ordered 
through the local electrical supply warehouse, who carries them as 
replacements for emergency lighting fixtures.
