My tip here would be contact the cable companies and ask for their cabling
diagrams (in the UK they have to provide these so that you don't end going
through their fibre).  Analysis the diagrams, plan your route between all
their manholes to get between your various houses, then get your boxes of
Cat5 cable and wait till it's 3-4am in the morning (when nobody else is
likely to be watching) and start pulling cable using their oh-so
conventiantly provided pipes.

Try to pull two cables at once since one of them is bound to break.
