I'd check prices with the resellers first ... sometimes ebay prices get
a little ridiculous.

There's a few places. There's an sgihelp list (run off of sgihelp.org),
but it's a bit on the quiet side. Like Sun, SGI also has the complete
manuals on the web, and has a freeware site (better than Sun
themselves, but not as good as sunfreeware.com).

Getting hold of the IRIX cd's can be a little tricky --- SGI still
sells them for a ridiculous amount although you can (apparently)
sometimes trick them into sending you a replacement media set. And
together with the overlays, it's a *lot* of cd's (makes Solaris look
anaemic). It's possible to find friendly SGIers with a CD burner though.

In my biased opinion, SGI's tend to make better desktop machines than
older Sun's --- my Indigo^2 still competes quite well with my Ultra-10
at work.

Sorry, no idea.
