OK, I've just lugged the beastie out of the Audi and into the garage beside
the Sun boxen. I haven't powered it on yet, I decided to take to it with
the screwdriver first...

The memory appears to have been in the wrong slots (according to the
picture on the case, gee I like how HP include specs inside the case for
people like us), so I moved it to the correct slots.

The SCSI card to drive the internal hotplug disks is an A2874-66005, is
this Single Ended or Differential SCSI? I picked up some 4Gb disks while I
was there, 4 differential and 5 single ended, I just need to know which
disks to shove in. I also picked up another A2874-66005 for $5 in case I
needed it later.

The hotplug drive bay has space for 5 hotplug cannisters, but only 2
hotplug connectors exist (top two bays), why do you tease me HP?

Now it's back together, I'll have to dig up some serial cables, apply 240
volts and see what happens!

Rob.

PS. If anyone else wants some HP kit and doesn't mind paying shipping, I'd
be happy to be a proxy bidder for you at the auction. There's LOTS of
disks, some SCSI cards, FDDI, plus complete boxen (another D280, some K
class and some G and H class). Email me off list and I'll give you the url
for the auction catalogue.
