I cant believe that people are having so much difficulty getting these
things :(

Is it possible to get them shipped over from the UK? I have always got
mine from a company called Maplin, who you can order online with. The 
longest I have had to wait is about three days.

It maybe worth looking at www.maplin.co.uk (or even getting someone 
here to post one over). The order code for the MK48T02B20 is DC01B 
and they sell it for about 17 UKP each.
