[SunRescue] Sun4 VME Parts / Memory

Hi,

I was lucky enough to be offered the chance to rescue some unwanted Sun
equipment by a university here in the UK. Having rushed to make the 400
mile round trip yesterday, before this lot ended up dumped/destroyed, and
returning with a nice full car, it was playtime...

In particular, I was hoping to get some parts for my 4/260 - new SMD disks
(got a couple of 600Mb drives!), SCSI with an external connector, and
memory.. - I've also rescued a nice cleanish (comparatively speaking)
4/330 system, and hope to get a 4/370 also if I can find some way of
shifting it :)

Anyway, the parts I'm hoping to find something out about..

I've a couple of 501-1102 .. these are the same as the ones i have
already, and just one 501-1254 .. this appears to be the correct 32Mb
board for the 4/260. (AIUI there is also a 32Mb card 501-1451 which is
suitable - can anyone tell me what the difference is?)

I've got four of 501-1333 .. now these are from 4/4xx's

I know that the 501-1254 will not work in a 4/4xx, but is the 501-1333
capable of working in a 4/2xx ?

If, as i suspect, it won't .. is there anyone in the UK who needs this
type of memory? I now realise that I should have grabbed one of the 4/400
cpu cards also :(

I'd be willing to swap for other items. Of course, I,m particularly keen
to get memory boards which will fit 4/2xx and 4/3xx.

I also have some VME ethernet, a brand new (boxed!) Xylogics SMD
controller, and maybe a spare SCSI.

Also, what can I run with a 4/300 cpu in the 4/260's chassis? - I picked
up spare 4/200 and 4/300 cpu's to go with the 4/260 and 4/330 :)

I know from the hardware faq that the 4/330 will take upto 72Mb .. but
what will a 4/300 cpu handle in a bigger cage? will this take the same
memory boards as the 4/260?

I also note that with 72Mb installed, there is still a spare slot for a
memory card in the 4/330 .. is 72Mb really the limit?

And finally, can anyone point me to a reference for the 4/330 boot rom? -
It seems that it's not even remotely friendly (the 4/200 will at least
list the commands it understands!). Currently I only get I/O on SerialA
when in diag mode.

Apologies for so many questions in one go .. the 4/330 is my newest toy &
I'm keen to make it do something :)

Thanks,

Dave.
