Why even use a modem?  I'd just use a null modem cable and do it via sz/rz or
even kermit if need be.  I actually did this on an SB3 the first night I had it,
so I know it can work. :)

Have you tried using sz/rz for zmodem transfers?  Works well, and you can likely
get it on a floppy.  If not, I'm pretty darn sure that kermit can fit on a 
floppy.  Worst case (and I mean WORST case), just uuencode a copy of rz and send
it over as ASCII text.
