I seem to remember they were dual 6800 CPUs.  That's 68
hundred, not 68 thousand!  Never seen one, but I was told
the 6800s ran a shared-memory setup, presumably with one
doing the sample playback and the other doing the user
interface.

I have an old Tektronix serial line tester that runs on
a 6800, and the manual includes full circuit diagrams and
fault-finding procedures.  They just don't make 'em like
that any more!
