[geeks] Q: Affordable soldering station

Hello all,

I find myself looking to put together a few amateur radio and computer replica
kits I've purchased recently, and to do so I think I'll need and I want
something better than my 20 year-old Radio Shack 25 watt soldering iron.

All I'll be soldering are hookup wires to jacks & plugs, along with thru-hole
components (nothing surface mount).

I'm thinking a 40-50 watt adjustable iron/station, but that's just a guess.

Suggestions? I'd prefer to stay under $100, closer to $50 - I don't expect to
do much soldering in the future beyond the odd connection or two after these
kits are together.

(I was able to put together a Replica 1 Apple 1 clone with my old Radio Shack
soldering pencil, but it seemed my iron was under-powered.)
