[geeks] Seriously?

Haven't tried the USB ports for much since I've got eSATA on everything. I 
think I was getting better speed out of the eSATA port than the USB ports 
but that could have been something wierd with that laptop or the USB to 
SATA adapters I had access to. Something like this

works well enough for me. I've used it to replace a couple laptop drives 
and to move my desktop system to an SSD (I think I was short on SATA power 
plugs at the time.)
