   Very important point, I think.

   I've had TWO (low end) video cards fail in my full size work 
station because of fan/heat problems.

   One of the cards the fan failed and the heat melted the what
was left of the fan and the plastic cover (also controls air
flow from fan) and the other card the heat allowed the heat
sink and fan to pull away from the board and the fan was working
fine.

   It both cases the video card still worked, just over heats
in a few minutes.

   So you'll also need good air flow or even a low end video card
could fail quickly.
