Quite possibly Flickr have been requested to do that by the
photographers ...

It's quite common in the photographic community to present online
galleries using Flash ... partially because of the correct belief that
it is harder to 'rip them off'. Sure Flash wrappers won't stop someone
serious from doing it, but do you seriously expect a photographer who
isn't interested in computers to know that ?

It would be nice if someone like Google (or another search company)
implemented something that would let you upload a photo and give you a
list of images similar enough to check out.

Actually commercial misuse is probably pretty rampant, I _know_
professional web designers who have ripped off images ('hey! it's on the
Internet, I can use it for anything I want') for commercial purposes.
I'm also acquainted with a professional landscape photographer who
recently walked into a local (to him) gallery and found one of his
images hanging up waiting to be sold.

'I find film very seductive ... like a woman my parents would not
like me to date. She's expensive, inconvenient, and you really can't
know you'll get what you want. But you'll be certain you'll want a
cigarette before the night is out.
