Hello all,

Dell has a decent config of the PowerEdge T105 server for $249 (over
$350 off regular price).

Config has:

Dual core Athlon CPU
1 Gig RAM
2x 160 Gig SATA HDs
DVD-ROM drive

Dell Link: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&oc=bqdwv1k&s=bsd

The system can be upgraded at Dell to the max of 8 Gigs RAM for $102
(Crucial wants $144 link:
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=PowerEdge%20T105&pl=Dell&cat=RAM
)

You can upgrade the CPU to a 1354 Quad Core for $100 at Newegg (Dell
wants $240 for same CPU upgrade):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819105212

This is a very nice "knock-around" server, the on-board chipset can be
an issue with some OS (works fine w/Windows Server 2008 for my use,
but Solaris can be problematic, IIRC)...

You may be interested in getting the HD fan from Dell - it usually
ships with system when SAS drives installed, the part number eludes me
at the moment.
