a large piece of vycor - iirc what corning 'visions' cookware was made
from - would do nicely.  intended originally for telescope mirrors, it
has nearly zero thermal expansion, and being vitreous won't easily
collect stains.

anyone know where to get one?  perhaps an amateur telesope mirror
blank...

following that, i learn from wikipedia that pyrex cookware hasn't been
made with pyrex glass in the us since corning sold the division in '88.
still is in europe though.
