FreeBSD supports ZFS on 32-bit platforms, but a 64-bit CPU is recommended
due to the large memory requirements (which require even more tuning on
32-bit systems). [1]

Do your Xeons support EM64T (I'm guessing so as you ran Solaris on the
system)? If so, the amd64 version will run fine on them.
