I think a large part of the problem stems from the fact Apple make 
jack-all effort to make a decent XCode SDK for game developers and to 
encourage game makers to code for OS X natively instead of relying on 
shoddy emulation layers (yes I mean you Cider!).

If they did release a 'semi-pro' currently then I doubt most of them 
would run OS X much anyway, which may be why they won't do it.
