Ultimately, yes.

I really need to be able to install Solaris without resorting to  
Jumpstart or other method.

I don't want to depend on other machines or the network for something  
like this.

It's much safer and more reliable to be able to pop in a DVD.

Hopefully the next OS release will have this issue resolved, along  
with quite a few others where Solaris is stuck in 1992.

Something else that would be nice is if OpenSolaris were finally  
upgradable and installable from the console.

Those two are keeping me from just using it.

Yes, there are hacks to do this, but I want production ready fire-and- 
forget stuff.

I'll just be happy when I get native ZFS and the other goodies in 10/08.

Then, ZRAID, finally.

It's all happening, slowly.
