Just a note. During the "driver wars" in the Linux 2.6 kernels, when 
there was lots of agument of how sound drivers (among others) should
work, the drivers for most of the saa7134 cards stoped producing sound.

For example, I was never able to get either an old FlyVideo card, or an
AverTV Go 007 to work properly. I currently use it on Windows.

I found a web page with instructions for Ubuntu Linux, but the page
does not show the year (it has time and date) when the posting was made
or for what kernel, or version of Ubuntu.

You should IMHO look at the Haupage cards with MPEG-2 output.
