Not quite - the gamepad is a regular USB HID device, but it uses the 0xff
DeviceClass ('Vendor Specific') while normal HID devices use 0x03. 
Regular HID drivers won't attach to it automatically.  Also, the device
has no USB Report Descriptor, making an operating system unable to
determine its device layout.  As always, thanks Microsoft.

YMMV with other types of 360 controllers, but in general, don't get your
hopes up.
