Like the way we helped the locals seat the Shah in Iran?

Like the Contras in Nicaragua?

Or those freedom fighters in Afghanistan we helped to expel the Russian army?

I'm sure there are other examples of the US sponsoring local militias... Maybe not such a great idea upon reflection.
