My normaly "load":

Space 1:
- iTunes
- VMWare Fusion with one 512M or 768M WindowsXP VM
- Terminal.app (two windows)
Space 2:
- Firefox with multiple tabs
Space 3:
- NetNewsWire
Space 4:
- Azureus
Menubar:  
- Weatherpop Advance
- Menumeters

All this (when tweaked and tuned) runs nicely on a 2Ghz CoreDuo iMac with 2G 
RAM or a 2Ghz Core2Duo Mini with 3G RAM.  I also do the same "load" minus
the BitTorrent on my 2Ghz CoreDuo MacBook with 2G RAM.
