For how many years has your current employer (the one you're asking to buy the 
replacement laptop) been benefiting from your personal Mac Powerbook? You may 
want to consider some form of "back pay" for the benefit they got from your 
laptop for the last few years to help justify the laptop you want.

Also increased graphic performance and increased screen real estate could be 
worth the bump in price. Finally, if you bump the HD size and memory to match 
the 17" MBP you listed and the difference in price drops "a bit"...

Get the larger MBP, it doesn't make business sense to skimp (IMHO, but hey, 
that's what you asked for)...
