Hello all,

As you may recall I bought a nicely equipped Dell laptop, but after ahving problems with the "TrueMobile" WiFi card, I opted to purchase a refurbished Intel radio card for $20 direct from Dell. I also opted to get the Bluetooth radio (so I can have wireless mouse without any dongle hanging out of my laptop) - they both arrived today.

The WiFi Radio worked right off the bat after intall - no drivers, ndiswrapper, etc. work involved. Then I shut down the laptop and added the BlueTooth adapter - it fired-up instantly, no futzing with drivers, settings, etc.

This is all because of the Dell-provided .iso file that held all the required drivers, settings, etc. My new Linux laptop has *everything* working, except I don't have the DVD player codecs Dell supplies, but I bet that can be found without too much effort...

This is a great "modest needs" laptop, and the cheaper version probably is an even better value. (There was a $499 version with aslower CPU, smaller battery, and smaller HD/RAM - the unit I got was (IMHO, YMMV) a real value for the upgrades included (mainly larger battery, faster CPU and 1 Gig more RAM included)...

This was nice - this is how Linux/Ubuntu should work...

Lionel
