By that definition a foreign substance could even be the tech
working on it. :) A foreign substance makes the screen brighter?
In one spot? I want some of what he's smoking! :)

On a lighter (and weirder) note, for a few weeks I was having problems
closing the DVD/CDROM drawer on my laptop (HP zv6000 series). The
other day, it wouldn't close the last half inch. Really jammed.
Oh crap! I need it and really don't want to give to repair yet.
So the other day I took a good look at it. I noticed something
sticking up out of the drawer. I touched it and it moved. So I
pulled it out. It was a thin screw about 3/4 inch long! Now where
did this come from? I looked at the bottom of the laptop and noticed
a hole without a screw. It seems the screw loosened, came out and
found it's way into the closed DVD/CDROM drawer! Another one for
Weird New Jersey. :)
