For $3K a phenominal system can be built ;^) If you find a MB that can take a lot of DIMMs, you can save a lot of money (8 sticks of 1 Gig DIMMs is only $400, but if you need to buy 2 Gig DIMMs, the price for memory more than doubles)...

Exactly.

My quest was to build/buy a system with Intel VT virtualization technology, and none of my dual-core CPUs have it...
