It's harder than you think. Using the same transmission doesn't mean
much: back in the AMC days they used Chrysler TorqueFlite 3spd automatic
transmissions, but that doesn't mean you could drop some random
automatic transmission out of a Dodge into one. Spline count
differences, belhousing differences...

Also: Rear axle, transfer case, powertrain computer...

Most of the existing swaps are into CJs or YJs due to their lack of
computer controls.

It's easier to just buy one with it installed at the factory. By the
2009MY virtually all new Jeeps will have an available diesel ;)

(drives a 2005 Jeep Liberty with a common-rail diesel)
