No docs but I've held both of them in my hands and have worked with them.

Highlights:
 Cisco 3548XL:
  * runs IOS
  * 1U rackmount

 Cisco 2948G:
  * runs CatOS
  * Basically a fixed-configuration Catalyst 4003/4503 switch
  * 2U rackmount
  * http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps606/ps624/index.html

Oh, and the 2948G is one heck of a lot cheaper on the used market.

There's also an -L3 variant of the 2948G that does layer 3 switching.
