Are they the same people that made high end stereo stuff in the '60s, or 
are they someone who bought the name? 

Today's blog mentions a Sherwood stereo, I've never found out if the
Sherwood that made it is any relation to the Sherwood of yesteryear. 

I do know there is a Sherwood who makes add on devices for shortwave radios
who is no relation to the stereo manufacurer, I don't know if he is the 
Sherwood from the originals.
