Their server, their rules. It surprises me when I come across people who
believe they've got a right to send mail to my servers ... they don't as
the servers are private property.

Of course implementing an opt-in mail system for the Internet, beats
Verizon's previous gross stupidity in this area by a huge margin. I know
I'm not going to opt-in my servers ... not only do I realise that doing
so means encouraging this sort of thing, but I really don't care if
Verizon decides to cripple their mail service to their users. 

After all, it will only cause a problem for a tiny fraction of my users
and the more people who can't email Verizon customers, the more Verizon
customers are going to start screaming.
