Some types are.  Some, namely Hep C, cause long-term chronic illness
and are not cureable.  There are still a number of pending lawsuits in
Canada, including one naming Bill Clinton as a defendant.

This is the exact same denial crap that happened in the US with the
hemophiliacs.  In spite of being warned by the CDC in the US, the
National Hemophilia Foundation continued to assert to hemophiliacs and
their families that Factor VIII and IX were "safe" and at risk of
being tainted.  As a result the majority of a generation of
hemophiliacs has been infected with HIV.

It's no wonder people are sue-happy.
