Its not, FM just overshadowed it.

(disclaimer: I was a country radio DJ for 3.5 years during high school and 
the summer before college, at a 100Kw FM station in my hometown)

I *almost* went into the broadcast industry as a career, but turnover and
pay in radio is horrible.
