You are thinking of Renault, as they were in the AMC/Jeep/Eagle/Chrysler 
adventure in the US. Jeep Cherokee was a Renault design, and Renault 21 
were rebadged Eagle Medallion.

Peugeot did own Chrysler Europe (itself a merger of Simca and Rootes) at 
some point, but the only connection there is the Talbot Horizon 
(successor to the Simca 1100), aka Dodge/Chrysler Omni/Horizon/Expo  and 
the chrysler (Simca, really) 4 cyl engine that ended up in the Talbot 
Solara, Matra Murena and Peugeot 505 Turbo sedan (altough with a Peugeot 
Hemi head and addition of a turbo).
