Agreed.  A ventilated, wooden battery box would be ideal.  Don't want
any hydrogen buildup.  Other "fumes" are not too nice either.  As far as
the actual electricity part, no problem as long as the charger part of the
UPS can handle the charging without overheating (usually they can).
