Last week I got to go up to the Dome at 13k feet, I walked around the entire telescope up all levels and learned how all the instruments and the network connections interfaced. They have wraps and wraps of fiber. I take care of all the network connections on the base and up at the 'scope, so I was on a cable chasing mission. It was breathtaking (and not because the air up there was thin as hell either!) Standing under the mirror of the telescope (which is the width of the entire dome) was really a once in a lifetime experience. It was 30 degrees, and to just be able to see the technology and how it all comes together was amazing. I am a lucky girl and I am thankful. Plus the astronmers are loads of fun ! They are the quirkyest bunch ever, NEVER a dull moment with them.

Ok, I'm DROOLING here. Are you happy now? ;)
