I liked the Harry Potter movie. My sense of budget keeps me from going to see
most movies more than once in the theatre. I did see Shrek 3 times in the
theatre, but that was for social reasons rather than really wanting to spend
that much money 3 times on the same movie.

I'm generally not very critical of book to movie conversions. I've liked most
of the jane austin movies (I have the 5 hour A&E version of Pride and Prejudice
on DVD), and I really liked her books. Anne of Green Gables films were also
very good (except for the fairly recent one, which really sucked and in no way
was it taken from any of the books), and I particularly liked those books. And
of course, let us not forget the Princess Bride. I even tend to like video
game to movie conversions (Tomb Raider was surprisingly good. I was afraid
that Angelina would ruin it, but she did quite well, probably better than Rhona
Mitre would have, even though Rhona looks the part better). But, the FOTR film
just really bugged me.
