It doesn't.  It doesn't even work safely on email piped to it from your
~/.forward file.

You didn't provide enough information for any expert to even guess at
your actual needs.  IMNSHO any good mailer (eg. Postfix) will be more
than adequate at sorting your outgoing mail by destination and
delivering it.  Even smail, which does no real sorting at all, is able
to handle even as many as 100k outbound messages per day on any ordinary
P-II/300 server, assuming of course there's adequate bandwidth and low
enough latency to the most common destination(s).
