Have you tried running lego mindstorms by him, can he handle those?  If so, 
there is a good chance of being able to handle some of the squeak stuff
aimed at young kids.

I wonder if anyone ever wrote a logo in squeak.  I know that there is a logo
in lisp, and a lisp in squeak, so it might only require reworking the
graphics primitives.  I'll have to look into that once I get my squeak 
computer back.
