Tonight (morning) while ripping some audio tracks from a CD in my "52 speed" ATAPI CD-ROM I noticed it was affecting serial transfers something chronic. Are ATAPI CD drives really sucky or is it just the lack of prempting in the Linux kernel. The computer has a Celeron (Coppermine) running @ 770Mhz.
