I think she was supposed to be the "tough-as-nails" woman - hence the
role as Security Chief (or whatever).  However, she failed at it
miserably IMO.  The character had *zero* followthrough, and ended up
being an annoying character based on a woman making pretence at macho
posturing.

In my opinon anyway.

For tough-as-nails women, look to Roxann Dawson's character B'Ellana
