A while ago I found that in my main workstation, but IDE drives were on the
same chanel. Tonight I realized why. The case is layed out in such a way
that none of the IDE cables I have will reach from CD-ROM to hard drive
to mother board. If I buy a rail kit to mount the 3.5" hd in a 5.25 bay, then
I will be able to rearrange the chanels. I'm tempted to do that if I can get
one tomorrow because I want to add a third drive temporarily to copy files
to, then remove one of the old drives.

Actually, I found my SCSI wierdness trying to add a different hard drive to
use as a swap/tmp drive because of the chanel idiocy. Yuck. Pc stuff sucks.
