It has to do with why someone might want more choices then being intel or
SGI. I ineffectively was trying to get at the fact that it would be nice
to have some choices, like NetBSD (although in general the reports are
that graphics sucks), or Linux.

Never did anything with CBs, but that sounds like the SPL competitions for
car stereos.

There are a couple of reasons, which may or may not apply to you. First,
faster machines means more freedom to use a faster (from point of view of
time it takes to write) programming languages. If it weren't for all the
people insisting on using C for GNOME application development, more normal
people might see the fruit of this. Actually, sometimes I wonder if
switching to a slower (cpu execution wise) language might actually result
in GNOME being faster (because of more care about wastefull algorithms).

Another purpose is that many people (perhaps not many of the people on
this list, but many people none the less) want to do graphical tasks, like
edit pictures, and maybe even do video editing. And then there are the
people who try and do hard things like loading monstrous 3D models and
other datasets for various tasks. And of course, an Onyx probably would
be best for this, but those are still expensive (if not to buy, then to
operate), and some of us have little money.

Of course, those of us who can't afford to buy an onyx, cant really afford
to buy a nice strong arm/geforce system, even if there were PCI geforce
cards. But, at least it would be nice to have interesting alternatives to
look at.

I might buy one if it did come out ;) Quad SS20s would benifit. Hehe.
