They are still there. I am long gone.

They were using an HP GC machine which had two columns. This
was for R&D work which wasn't covered by EPA or FDA rules, BTW.
But, either way, instead of using two columns for the same
sample like they do for a lot of the very touchy stuff that
needs to be really accurate they were using them for different
samples which would increase the throughput in the number of
specimines tested. The script would parse through, figure out
what was on each column, and then move it to the right 
directories for analsys and archiving.
